I don't think they will. SMU is still trying to recover 25+ years later. They won't do that again. Besides SMU's Board of Trustees was involved in their pay for play situation. Miami isn't that bad. It's bad, don't get me wrong, but not that bad. The NCAA gains nothing by killing the Um brand.
It would be fun though.

You'd be hard pressed to find Brock Berlin or his teammates at an afterparty without going to Diamond Dolls first but tell me that this is definitely happening across the country. NCAA football and basketball is rife with these issues. Is it acceptable? In no way whatsoever! But to sit here and pretend to be shocked is also impossible. We have Al Golden who has an awesome resume and the "seemingly" right ethics for leadership. Furthermore none of the Canes current players are involved. I consider this more a serious "Come to Jesus" moment for the NCAA than placing a team & coach who had zero involvement in these allegations on the death penalty.
The Canes are more than University of Miami's football team- they are Miami. No matter if you attend Broward CC, Miami Dade CC or FIU you are a Canes fan so the death penalty would not just effect UM but also, the spirit of at least 2 counties. That is all.
Permalink Reply by Mark on August 22, 2011 at 9:12pm That's why I don't think they get the death penalty. Unfortunately, your guy squealed (rat). My guy is keeping his mouth shut. I'm ok...you're ok. Tacit agreement.
I'm not sure about your current player claim. Jacory is spending alot of time on the sidelines and he needs the practice time.
Fair or not that's the way the rules are written. The team and coach (regardless of involvement) are punished along with the university and community. Meanwhile, the guilty parties are off to the NFL making millions. Just ask Reggie Bush.
