Ho! Ho! Hum! Why do I feel so bummed? The Holiday lights are still twinkling and the Holidays cheers are still a favorite memory. If you find yourself asking this question, you may be experiencing the Holiday Blues.
This Holiday Blues can best be defined as a period of sadness, loneliness, depression or anxiety that occur often around the holiday season. "The blues" can be intense and emotional but should not last longer than two weeks before a person feels better and engages back into his/her normal routine. Anyone can experience "the Blues," but people prone to such are those who have recently lost a loved one, have experienced a major financial setback, anyone going through a major life transition, those separated from family, or people who suffer with depression and anxiety.
If you are experiencing insomnia or sleeping too much, overeating or undereating, severe headaches, increased inrritability, excessive guilt, are unfocused, or experience a loss of pleasure, then you may be experiencing the "holiday blues."
