Smart Practices to Relieve Holiday Stress
Ho Ho Ho and Glad Tidings could be easily disrupted this Merry season. One too many parties to attend and extra shopping, cooking, decorating, cleaning and a few unrealistic Norman Rockwell expectations and you have a recipe for stress that can destroy anyone’s comfort and joy.
A little intentional planning of self-preservation will allow you to survive and enjoy a Holly Jolly season.
Boundaries can be beneficial. Setting limits and realistic expectations of yourself will allow you to accomplish what is important and enjoyable. Give yourself permission to take care of YOU.
- A spirit of giving allows you to reflect and appreciate your blessings while helping others in need. Your mother was right, “It is better to give than receive.”
- Moderation in all things. Setting limits on your spending, shopping, eating, alcohol and demanding people will allow for more energy, strength and patience to enjoy the entire season.
- Build in breaks for yourself. Enjoy a hot cup of tea with a friend, exercise often, get ample sleep, order in pizza, and watch your favorite Holiday movie just because.
The holidays hold a special delight and pleasure like no other time of the year, and with some intentional planning, the holiday stress will not creep in like the Grinch and steal our joy.
